Globalization in life

Globalization is one of the important events in the social, political and economic life in the world. According to Ali Baghdadi in a world one that was based on the principles of justice, peace and equality abided by the United Charter and International Law, and which cultures coexisted and interacted, globalization would have had an important role in the fight against poverty, disease, pollution, drug addiction, terrorism, and so on. People in the developed countries also think in this way but most of the people in the world think that globalization favors developed countries and big international companies.

The era in the hands of globalization began with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Soviet Union had a closed economy that Soviet Union tried to challenge with USA. But their economy could not stand against the American economy and in 1990s the Soviet Union collapsed and some other countries claimed their independence. The important thing in that event is after the collapse of the USSR there was not challenger against American force in the world.

The most important factor in the globalization is the increasing amount of the population and against this event the limited resources of food and basic requirements. So there will be only two way in the globalization; one of the way is to make pacts and in equal conditions, and other way is civil war and the exploitation of the weak by the stronger. As we see nowadays the second way of globalization is made by America and its assistants. So we can make a statement “Globalization is equal to the Americanization” like Ali Baghdadi says “It might as well be called as ‘Americanization’”.

The logic of the globalization system is to change the trade system of the countries like take their local market to the international market and let their resources be used by other countries. That means the countries which can afford this financial burden wins the game in a way. But can the third world countries have enough fund to stand against to this burden? Can they find enough funds to use their own natural resources?

The answer of this question is of course “no”. Because they are under the pressure of the developed countries like America, England and France. Their financial power can not afford enough money to use their national resources. If they have enough money to use those resources they meet with embargos from those developed countries. For example they are not allow to export goods that their economy is became worse and after they have to owe money from International Monetary Fund and World Bank, those developed countries take the role and they use those countries resources for their credit to the World Bank. In the writing of Ali Baghdadi, he says that in Brazil that exports food; one hundred thousand children die annually from hunger. Even India, one of the biggest democracies of the world, exported five million tons of rice, 625 million dollars worth pf wheat and flour in 1985 while 20% of its population remains hungry. In Mongolia, a country that lived on its own local dairy products for thousands of years, and has over 25 million dairy animals, German dairy products are the most common. In Kenya, the price of Dutch butter is half price of local butter that we can developed countries have the monopoly of the economy in the third world countries.

Furthermore, the third world countries that are against to those developed countries have to stand against those countries cruel games. According to Ali Baghdadi, barbaric and dirtiest methods are used by big countries to force them to obey their rules like persuade civil wars, ethnic assimilations, terrorism, assassinations, economic sanction or military force. Like in Vietnam, in Algeria or Iraq third world countries are met with force to accept big countries rules.

On the other and in modern way big countries make interesting advertisements to make other countries’ economy slave for their benefit. They make cigarettes and export them to the undeveloped and under developing countries but they forbid smoking in their countries. They see people who smoke as a second quality citizen in their countries that we can see that also in their countries people face with discrimination. We can assume that tobacco is the biggest invention of capitalism.

Also people in every place of the world faced with American culture. For example people eat from McDonalds, drink coffee from Starbucks, watch the Hollywood movies and speak American language etc. Also they drive big countries’ car. They want to be like them; they wear from expensive French fashion clothes, eat from luxury restaurants and use their jewelry.

Because of the misery and the poorness in the world people are suffering. According to conservative figures published by the United Nations; the average income of 1.3 billion people that equals to the quarter of the world’s population is less than a dollar a day and they have no drinkable water. Hundreds of millions of people are living in severe poverty, their children can not find a drink or patients can not afford medicine due to their poverty.

The consequences of globalization also show themselves in their own countries. Also people live in developed countries like in America face with the difficulties because of globalization. Even in the America because of the economic policies of the companies, the power distance between poor and rich is increasing. Ali Baghdadi says in his essay that 95% of the national wealth lies in the hands of 5% of the people. Because of the ambition of companies that try to make high profit they fire laborers and do not care them any way. According to the authorities 20% of Americans between the age 20 and 24 are unemployed and not in higher education. American citizens are under pressure because of the taxes of credit for house or car. But advertisements still continue to brainwashing.

As we see in the world no people expect rich people and big companies have benefit from the globalization that if we say that globalization favors the developed countries and big international companies, our statement is not false. Globalization makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
